Jasmin's Fitness Journey: Chapter 12 – Letting go of Expectations

Since giving birth seven weeks ago, getting back into the gym has been a humbling experience. I expected to get back into my fitness regime and start from where I left off or at least from the level I was at when nine months pregnant; seeing as how I was only out of the gym for three weeks. But, to be honest, every class has been a beat down physically and more so mentally. I was not prepared to be so weak. Initially I was doing the wrong thing, letting the challenges get me down. I was leaving the gym feeling defeated, and starting to spiral into a negative headspace. Thankfully, another BodyNetix member noticed I was struggling and reached out to me. Surprisingly, I didn’t even realize all this was happening until she started checking in. This fanTABulous friend helped me focus on the fact that I was already back in the gym and taking care of myself. She made me realize these silver linings outweigh the feelings of weakness, and helped snap me out my pity party.

After recognizing what was happening, and facing it head on with new intentions, I started to enjoy going to the gym again. Exercises have been feeling more and more possible and weights are getting easier to lift. It is truly amazing how different life has been since I let go of my expectations. It does not matter what fitness level I am performing at, but that I am putting in the commitment and determination to crush new goals.

My next big goal is to commit and try my hardest to shed inches in the upcoming 21-Day Challenge. I am pumped to get into another challenge because of the results I know I will attain, but more so for the adrenalin of being part of such a power group of people.

Update on Budrina

Budrina is 7 weeks old and is such a happy little baby. Words cannot express how much I love this little mini me. We have been spending our time getting to know each other, reading books, listening to music and going for walks. I have been focusing on the type of role model I want to be, and so far, I am certain I want to instill the importance of fitness. I figure it’s never too early to start, so I signed us up for 12 weeks of yoga. This seems like the perfect introduction to living a healthy well-balanced life.
